We can’t make these events happen without the help of generous and dedicated volunteers.

There are two types of volunteer positions:

1. Assist at racer check-in, at an aid station along the route, or at the finish line. Primary duties at aid stations include setting up and taking down the aid station, making sure the table is continuously stocked with goodies, serving water and nutrition products, and just being your usual amazing, friendly self. You must be willing and able to drive yourself to the aid station and if possible, transport a rider back to the finish line if they’re unable to complete the ride (after the aid station closes, of course).

2. SAG driver. Primary duties are driving the course in your own vehicle (preferably an AWD truck/SUV equipped to carry bikes and people) and stopping to assist an injured or otherwise incapacitated rider (but not to help fixing a flat – they’re supposed to be on their own for that). You may be called upon to transport a rider back to the finish if they can’t continue; but only after your vehicle is full or the event is pretty much over. You must have a cell phone so we can contact you with specific instructions; although we’re often in places with no cell service.

Our goal is have riders give back to their sport, and to also experience an event from the other side of the aid station table.

All volunteers receive a discount credit for 50% off any future Planet Ultra single-day event.

If you’re planning to ride an event and know you can bring along someone to help out, please email us before signing up and we’ll give you a coupon code to use during registration for an instant 50% off. At the event, the volunteer you bring gets the credit described above. If the volunteer is a non-rider then YOU may use that credit. So you get two nice deals: An instant discount for promising to bring a volunteer, and 50% discount on your next event.

Discount credits must be used within 18 months of volunteering.

We always need volunteers!

We cover fuel expenses on event day if requested at the event; and if you let us know you’re coming at least a few weeks in advance, you’ll get the cool event schwag as well.

*Exception: Credits may not be redeemed for participation in Death Valley Century, which has a strict participant limit imposed by the National Park.
